Location maps

From the South

From Newcastle follow the A1 and take the junction just north of Morpeth onto the A697, follow this road through wooded valleys and rolling hills utill Cornhill-on-Tweed where Coldstream comes into view. Situated high on the banking of the River Tweed, Coldstream is without doubt the most dramatic and historic entrance into Scotland. Stop and view the Tweed Bridge, the old Marriage House and the entrance signs that welcome you to the First True Border Toon - The Birthplace of The Regiment

From the North

From Edinburgh follow the A68 through Dalkeith and Pathhead. Stop at the ancient monument called Soutra Aisle, which was an important stopping point and hospital in ancient times. It gives it's name to the hill we all know mainly through car journeys to the capital. The site is signposted right just before you get to the foot of the hill. Also take time to look back at the marvellous view over Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth into Fife before carrying on into the Borderland.
Up and over Soutra hill with its vast wind farm, turning left at Carfraemill roundabout onto the A697 which winds its way through rolling hills and valleys to Greenlaw, the ancient county town of Berwickshire. About two miles

out of Greenlaw look at the wonderful view over the Merse onto the Cheviot Hills. Stop at the lay-by and notice the small house nicknamed 'The Ink Bottle Lodge' (you'll realise why when you see it). Drop down the valley into the rich farmlands with the Cheviot becomming ever more imposing until eventually sweeping left to enter Coldstream from the west.

P.S. watch out for the speed cameras all the way down.
