Fishing on The Tweed

Fishing on the Tweed offers the fly fisher a chance to experience some of the finest salmon fishing our home rivers can provide. Not only are salmon plentiful, but with an average size of about 12lb the chances of hooking a sizeable fish, well into double figures, are high.

The majestic hills and deep valleys of the Scottish Borders are saturated with the colours of autumn. Trees hang heavy with leaves so rich in rustic colour and texture that few places can rival such beauty. With October long regarded as the prime month to fish this most classic of salmon rivers, the Tweed has earned a deserved reputation for consistently producing good runs of big, fresh autumn fish. The Tweed has its own river information service, which updates daily at 7am. You can find out the water height at predetermined places along the river and its tributaries, if floods look imminent or if you want to check if the water is falling. The Tweedline number is 09068 666 411.
