Urgent Prescriptions
If you require an urgent prescription outwith the opening hours of your local pharmacist, there will be a notice
prominently displayed at the shop, explaining how to get a prescription.
Help towards costs
You will get free prescriptions if you are:
Under 16 or between 16 and 18 and in full time education
Over 60 years old
Pregnant or have had a baby in the previous 12 months
On income support
On family credit
On disability working allowance
Suffering from one of a number of medical conditions (for details ask for booklet HC11 from your pharmacist
or doctor) Housebound
A war or MOD pensioner, when the treatment is for your pensionable disability.

Prescription Season Ticket
If you have to pay for NHS prescriptions and need them regularly, or need a lot of prescription items, you could save
money with a season ticket (pre-payment certificate). This lasts 4 months or 12 months, and will save you money
if you need more than 5 items in 4 months or 14 items in 12 months. You can get an application form from your
pharmacist or from the Borders Primary Care Trust at the address above.
